'Most Eventful Cities' Rankings Reveal Top Places for Things to Do
Findings Released by Eventful Show This Year's 25 Most Happening Locations Across the Nation
San Diego, Calif. – December 10, 2007 – Eventful, the leading events Web site, today released its first annual ‘Most Eventful Cities’ rankings, which lists U.S. cities by the number and type of local events. Based on the millions of events listed on Eventful.com, the rankings reveal which cities have the most going on, providing a valuable insight into the character and vitality of each area.
Eventful looked at all U.S. cities with a population of 100,000 or more to find the locations with the most events. The nation’s largest cities such as New York, Los Angeles and Chicago appeared in the top ten. However, several cities with smaller populations also reached the top of the rankings because of their disproportionately high number of events. These include: San Francisco (pop. 744,041) in third place, with many community, performing arts and singles events; Tucson, Ariz. (pop. 518,956) in sixth place, boasting many family and school or alumni events; and Washington D.C. (pop. 581,530) in tenth place, with its many neighborhood, education and political events.
The ‘Most Eventful Cities’ rankings also reveal which cities are best for certain types of activities. For instance, San Diego ranked highest for pet-related events, Los Angeles has the highest number of book-related activities just ahead of Houston, and New York tops the list for singles events, with San Francisco coming in second.
“The ‘Most Eventful Cities’ rankings provide a fascinating snapshot of how people spend their time across the nation,” said Jordan Glazier, CEO of Eventful, Inc. “Events are at the heart of each city’s character and vitality, so it’s interesting to see which cities offer the greatest breadth of activities for residents and visitors. Eventful is a great resource to help people make their lives more fulfilled by discovering and getting involved in events in their local communities. We wanted to see how events compared in different cities and created the ‘Most Eventful Cities’ rankings to highlight the hot spots and regional trends across the United States.”
Eventful helps users throughout the world discover, share and create events, with approximately four million events to choose from including concerts, singles events, kids’ activities and community happenings.
