Country Superstars Little Big Town and Eventful Unveil Nationwide Competition For Opening Act
Musicians Will Compete by getting the most Eventful Demands to Win a Spot as the Opening Act for Grammy-Nominated Little Big Town
SAN DIEGO, CA – January 21, 2009 - Eventful and Little Big Town announced today that country musicians across the nation can register and compete to land a spot as the opening act on Little Big Town’s upcoming A Place to Land tour. The top four acts will perform at different stops on the tour during March. Once the bands are registered for the competition, the rest is up to the support of their fans. Regardless of their hometowns, fans across the nation can bolster their favorite acts’ chances to make it to the big stage by using Eventful’s Demand service. The four performers with the most Demands have won themselves a huge step forward in their music careers.
2008 proved to be an incredible year for platinum-selling act, Little Big Town. The band was recently nominated for a Grammy for “Best Country Collaboration with Vocals,” was voted into GAC’s Top 50 Videos of 2008 and was nominated for a CMT online award for “Number One Digitally Active Group or Duo” – making them a perfect fit to team up with Eventful. The momentum continues as Little Big Town kicks things off big in 2009 with their first nationwide headlining tour. Four lucky bands will join the already impressive list of opening acts including Zac Brown Band, Ashton Shepard and Kate & Kacey.
Fans and musicians can log on to: http://eventful.com/littlebigtown to participate. Launched today, January 21, the competition will continue through 2:00 p.m. PT, February 27, on Eventful. The winning bands will be announced on February 27.
“In the past Little Big Town has had amazing opportunities as an opening act,” states Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild. “We’ve had the honor of opening for John Mellencamp, George Strait, Martina McBride, Sugarland, Keith Urban and more. Because of our experiences, we wanted to find a way to give back to some bands that are just getting started in their careers. It’s even more special because the fans get to choose. I can’t wait to see who the fans select.”
