San Diego, April 23, 2009 – Eventful (www.eventful.com) today announced that it has been selected to the 2009 OnHollywood 100 List. The OnHollywood 100 Award is given to private, emerging technology companies in the media and entertainment industries which are leaders in their space. Eventful was selected by the AlwaysOn editorial team based on its position as the leader in its industry, rapid growth, quality of innovation, customer traction and substantial impact on the digital entertainment industry.
Eventful is the leading service for discovering, sharing, creating and promoting local events. Eventful’s community of millions of users enjoy multi-channel access to the world’s most comprehensive selection of events, participate in Eventful’s social fabric and use Eventful’s unique and patent pending Demand service to influence where their favorite performers appear. Over 70,000 performers, musicians, politicians and celebrities use Eventful’s “Demand it!” service to empower their fans to influence where the performers route their tours, based upon where they are most in Demand for live performances.
“We’re honored to receive the OnHollywood award and thank the AlwaysOn team for this recognition,” said Jordan Glazier, CEO of Eventful. “We’re passionate about helping our users make their lives more fulfilling by discovering and participating in local events that help them connect with their community, enjoy their favorite performers and pursue their hobbies and interests.”
Eventful and the other OnHollywood 100 winners will be recognized at the OnHollywood Conference, April 27th-29th at The Sofitel Hotel in West Hollywood. OnHollywood is where cutting-edge technology CEOs and the Hollywood digital entertainment and media elite get together to discuss the forces which are disrupting user behavior and creating new opportunities, content strategies and monetization schemes in the video, music, gaming, and mobile industries.
Jordan Glazier, Eventful’s CEO, will be participating in a panel discussion along with other industry leaders including Vince Thompson, Founder & Managing Partner, Middleshift and Derek Broes, SVP, Paramount Digital Entertainment. The session is entitled “The Deal: How it Goes Down, Entrepreneurs and Executives talk about successful partnerships”.
“This year’s OnHollywood 100 companies represent the future of entertainment and spotlight how technology and digital media have and will continue to deeply impact the entertainment industry as we know it,” said Tony Perkins, founder and CEO of AlwaysOn. “Despite the economic downturn, the pace of innovation continues to progress, making this year’s selection even more difficult. We are pleased to see what 2009 has in store for the entertainment industry and we are happy to reveal the 2009 OnHollywood 100.”
The OnHollywood 100 winners were selected from among hundreds of other technology companies nominated by investors, bankers, journalists and industry insiders. The AlwaysOn editorial team conducted a rigorous three-month selection process to finalize the 2009 list.
