Eventful’s “Demand it!” Service Will Empower Voters to Choose Local Bases for Screenings Before the Epic-Scale Action-Adventure Opens in Theaters on May 18

San Diego – April 12, 2012 – Eventful Inc., the leading digital media company connecting consumers with live entertainment, movies, and local events, and Universal Pictures announced today the first-ever online campaign to bring sneak previews of Universal Pictures’ “Battleship” to 10 U.S. military bases. The epic-scale action-adventure opens in theaters across the country on May 18.

To join the “Battle of the Bases” campaign, friends and family may choose a military base that is near or special to them by voting online now at The 10 military bases that receive the highest online vote tally by May 8th will receive an advance screening of “Battleship” at a theater near the base between May 15 and May 17. Nearly 300 military bases nationwide have the chance to make the top 10.

In Summer 2012, the battle for Earth begins at sea. Peter Berg (Hancock, The Kingdom, Friday Night Lights) directs and produces “Battleship,” an epic-scale action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. The film stars Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgård, Rihanna, Brooklyn Decker, Tadanobu Asano and Liam Neeson.

Voting is easy through Eventful’s “Demand it!”TM service, which empowers fans to bring films and live entertainment to their communities while gaining access to exclusive content, pre-sales, and other unique promotional opportunities.

While Eventful has used Demand it! engagement to spark numerous, successful online screening campaigns, this is the first time the company is teaming up with a film studio to arrange showings for military bases.

Eventful will promote the screenings in communities around the winning military bases. Tickets will be issued by Eventful to all RSVP subscribers to the screenings on a first come, first-served basis (with ticket availability determined by Universal and Eventful in advance).
