First Annual Tri-State Competition To Find The Next R&B Superstar

New York, NY – San Diego, CA – June 29, 2012 – Power 105.1, R&B and Only The Best Hip-Hop, and Eventful, the leading digital service connecting consumers with live entertainment and local events, today announced the launch of the first annual “Power 105.1’s Next R&B Superstar Competition.” Music artists will opt-in and compete via Eventful’s unique “Demand it!” ® service, which empowers fans to “Demand” that they win the chance to play live on stage at Power 105.1’s concert at Six Flags Great Adventure, be showcased on Power 105.1’s Sunday Night “New in NY” show and receive a single record deal from eOne Music.

Music fans can vote for their favorite band when they “Demand it!” via Eventful’s unique social media platform by logging on to They can also spread the word virally through Facebook and Twitter by inviting their friends to “Demand” their favorite band as well. The Top 15 artists with the most “Demands” will move to the semi-finals. The final five will then be narrowed down by an A-List panel of music industry judges, including Clear Channel Media and Entertainment New York’s Operations Manager, Cadillac Jack; eOne Music’s Senior VP Urban Music, Dontay Thompson; Power 105.1’s Morning Show Hosts, DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne and Power 105.1’s Assistant Program Director and Music Director, Geespin. Fans will then choose the winner by voting on the final five.

Unsigned artists and bands from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut have until July 22, at 11:59 p.m. ET to log on to to register for free. “Power 105.1’s Next R&B Superstar” will be announced on August 20, at 7 p.m. ET.
